It should go away sometime after 5.3 is released. Would it be an issue
to just drop the configuration option then as well?

See my "In principle..." reply to Tor's mail in this thread. So if youwant to keep this configuration property in for now, just make sure toremove it again as quickly as possibly, I'd say.
