Hi Alex,

Dear LibreOffice community, since the release of version 4.3 they are new
bugs introduced in each version that break accessibility for blind and low
vision people.

To be fair, many if not most bugs or unimplemented a11y features stem
from 3.x or older releases or were introduced with the integration of
the IAccessible2 work, but may have been discovered just later.

At this time, there are about 40 bugs
<https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=36549> opened for only
accessibility with some of them opened in 2011.

In fact 32 open bugs and 46 resolved bugs. So they are not ignored.

For example this bug about LibreOffice calc
<https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=94146> blocks usage of
it for blind user on Linux environment.

Now fixed.

Could we imagine to have some people that works on accessibility of
LibreOffice at GSoC ?

Might be an idea, though too late for this year's GSoC.
Finding expertise about accessibility among students might also not be
too promising.

Rather than that, more continuous awareness of developers of a11y needs
and ongoing work would be welcomed.

At Hypra <http://hypra.fr/?-Home-17-&lang=en> and
we've some people aware of the subject (VStuart, Sophie, ...) we could help
to test, for feedbacks and use cases about accessibility.

Thanks for offer.

  Eike
