Perhaps you can give LibreOfficeKit a try. It's a relatively new
functionality that's been added relatively recently. A quick google
search reveals that this project

uses it to create a python wrapper. Or this
https://github.com/ojwb/lloconv
which also uses LibreOfficeKit.
