So, I take the point, but I think the issue will resolve in only one outcome
- everyone gets their own 'last edit' pointer, but that pointers storage
area might not be in the document for everyone.
What you're saying here is already true for Writer and Calc. I didn't
understand why the same wasn't true for Impress until Thorsten mentioned it.

From my point of view of Writer, Calc and Impress user, the main difference
between Impress and other modules is that it has the slide sorter which give
you a global view on the document and makes very easy to find the slide you
want work on. That makes indifferent for me that Impress opens the file at the
last modified slide.
