It should not be so hard that Kumara or others have to ask for the
protection. It should also include what Apple apps do - get that user right
back to where he was - ALWAYS (unless you are using MS OFFICE)

This is beside the point in this context. Storing the last edit pos in
the document, and then having each and every user who's just consuming
the content start at random pages/slides, is the trade-off at hand.

Your otherwise valid suggestion is a different beast, please file a
separate bug for it (i.e. storing last-edit positions for a number of
documents in the _application_ config). Or maybe that bug is already
there.
