on todays ESC call we discussed google ending its OpenID support with a hard
deadline on April:

I wonder if we should just have the precommit hook in
core/.git-hooks/precommit on master emit something like:
Did you use googles OpenID to log-in to gerrit?
If you did, you NEED TO REGISTER AT A DIFFERENT OPENID PROVIDER NOW!
Google OpenId will stop service on XYZ, more details at http://tdf.io/googleid
for this month after every commit. Someone else has to do that though as the
precommit hook was written in some disgusting 1990ies script language that I
dont speak too well ...
