I recently updated Libre Office Writer from version 4.0 to 4.2.
Unfortunately, I observed an apparent regression in the copy-paste function
from HTML pages displayed in Firefox to Writer documents (both apps running
on MS Windows 8.0).
In more details, here is the problem:
[...SNIP...]
- Nowadays, with Writer v4.2, not a single element of the original formating
is retained. As a result of a copy-paste, one obtains a plain, simple text
equivalent of the web page... Bug or feature? IMHO, this is a functional
regression. As a result, it forced me to use MS Word first, to get the web
page format right, then copy-paste this content to my Writer document.
Painful process.
I am wondering: is there something I'm doing wrong, or is this a dev mishap?
Thanks in advance for your help!
That was fdo#78801 which made plaint text take precedence over html
when pasting (now fixed, should be in 4.2.5)
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=78801
Edit->Paste special.. (ctrl+shift+v) and select HTML.
(That's the direct workaround, it was only the automatic selection of
paste format
that was broken and not the actual pasting...)
No idea about the JS objects unfortunately.

Andrzej
