poor performance is invariably linked to the code - the search
functionality has always been a poor performer thanks to OOo/LO's
requirement to load the whole ******* result set into memory...
This is in fact why I asked the question about what database engine is being used.
This is unlikely to happen if the database engine was, for example, MySQL.
