Consider adjusting the PKG_CONFIG_PATH environment variable if you
installed software in a non-standard prefix.
Alternatively, you may set the environment variables CPPUNIT_CFLAGS
and CPPUNIT_LIBS to avoid the need to call pkg-config.
See the pkg-config man page for more details.

Well cppunit is clearly installed in my system (Kububtu Natty) and the
suggestions offered just above does not work:
/.
/usr
/usr/lib
/usr/lib/libcppunit-1.12.so.1.0.0
/usr/share
/usr/share/doc
/usr/share/doc/libcppunit-1.12-1
/usr/share/doc/libcppunit-1.12-1/copyright
/usr/share/doc/libcppunit-1.12-1/changelog.Debian.gz
/usr/lib/libcppunit-1.12.so.1
so I am stuck.... :-(
Thanks in advance for the help

I just pulled the master (git pull -r), and libcmis is still breaking
my build on linux.
What build breaker did you have? It would be nice to know it in order to
fix it.
--disable cmis
oops, I was certain to have pushed that, but I figured out that it is
still unpushed on my machine. Should be fixed by now.
