hmmm... but why hook this into --enable-debug, and not --enable-dbgutil?
Good question...
AFAIK --enable-debug just enables symbols, and is otherwise intended to be
compatible with an ordinary build.
We also have --enable-symbols ;) I don't know why we need that
separately, and what the -ggdb2 vs. -ggdb3 in unxgcc.mk means.
i've just completed a build with the attached patch; the smoketest
immediately failed with this assertion:
this is the bookmark problem that Windows developers found yesterday.
Yay! your patch seems like a good thing then indeed. Just commit, I'd
say... but then I don't really build often on Linux myself;)
