I added a 'make test' in the toplevel, which hopefully is somewhat
visible - it is after the 'make check' rule. I wonder - is there a
useful distinction there ? or should we do both in make check ?
If the make test runs the subsequent-tests it should be just renamed to
make check now IMO if the make dev-install runs the smoketest.
