So I did, and figured out the reason why it was blank.  The installation
didn't have statusbar.xml at the correct location.

It was supposed to be at
share/config/soffice.cfg/modules/scalc/statusbar/statusbar.xml

but it was in fact at
share/config/soffice.cfg/modules/scalc/toolbar/statusbar.xml

Now I'm going to figure out how to fix this...
