I recently modified the cairo text rendering (in VCL) to use
cairo_ft_font_face_create_for_pattern instead of
cairo_ft_font_face_create_for_ft_face which means that LibreOffice gets
the same lcdfilter/coloured subpixeling out of the box that other
fontconfig+cairo using apps get when the fontconfig settings for this
are enabled.

My understanding is that there may be a hack in Ubuntu's
gnome-settings-daemon to force pre-fix LibreOffice to do this in
unnatural way, so when 3.4 lands that can be removed.
