this was my buildbot script : so make clean /autogen / make everytime
so dependencies tracking is not an issue.
Well, what'ya know, that's odd. What version of gcc is that on mac ?
/Volumes/Raid0/tb/sw $gcc-4.0 --version
i686-apple-darwin10-gcc-4.0.1 (GCC) 4.0.1 (Apple Inc. build 5494)

Note: we _need_ to use gcc-4.0 because we use the 10.4 sdk. the
current gcc of 10.6 is
i686-apple-darwin10-gcc-4.2.1 (GCC) 4.2.1 (Apple Inc. build 5664)
Which make we thing that the 'uncobbering' of CXX done a couple of day
ago may be the culprit

This is the bug (http://gcc.gnu.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=26905) that
this test is *supposed* to be testing for.
