I just compiled current LibO on Linux and I also see the THunderbird
address book connection. I select it and what I get when trying to save
the database is a dialog box saying:
"The connection to the data source "new database" could not be
established. No Mozilla/Seamonkey Address Book exists."
Actually one correction. I get the above dialog when selecting "File -> New
Database" and in the database wizard select "Connect to
existing database":"Mozilla address book".
When going through "File->Wizards->Address data source", I get a slightly
different selection of address book sources, among them
"Mozilla/Netscape" and "Thunderbird".
When selecting Mozilla/Netscape, I get the same error as above ("no
Mozilla/Seamonkey address book exists"). when I select Thunderbird, I
get to see my Thunderbird address books. So that would work in
principle.
But there are various things and inconsistencies: What is a
Mozilla/Netscape address book? Browser bookmarks? And how does a
"Mozilla" address book differ from a "Thunderbird" address book?
And why did I see "Mozilla address book" but not "Thunderbird" address
book in the new database wizard?
Overall the whole thing is very puzzling and unintuitive.

The issue with SeaMonkey address books has been fixed in OOo m97. See:
http://development.openoffice.org/releases/DEV300m97_snapshot.html
http://www.openoffice.org/issues/show_bug.cgi?id=107809
It would be great if this fix could be added to LO.
