Yes, I'm aware I can change the CPU count, among other things, but
this was my noob starting point.

Wow, this *really* makes a difference. I would have thought it might have halved the time, to about 2 hours. On the same hardware, with just 2 cpus, instead of 1, it takes only 1 hour. Is this superlinear decrease in compile time typical? (At least when going from 1 to 2 processors?)
