Hi all,

as announced a few hours ago, I've started to create a "banner
development" wiki page. Although we "just" talk about banners, it seems
that the recent activities (and thus information) are spread over
several lists ... and since we get more and more requests for
representing this activity for the public, it might help to keep the
message "consistent". As we tried (and achieved from my point-of-view)
with the LibreOffice branding.

So here you go:

Please go ahead with adding content, tweaking, correcting ... other
things like decisions should be at least discussed with the team. And,
so to say, rather quickly :-)

Thanks in advance!

Cheers,
Christoph

Hi Christoph, et al,

A good set of banner designs already it seems

Given the time constrained nature of this campaign, (0 to done in 34
days) the ability to gather analytics for the site(s) is the first item
crossing my mind as one someone would check.

Is it fairly easy to pull some metrics to show percentages of site
visitors clicking on the banner on a daily basis, starting yesterday? -
assuming that is true then IMHO it would be prudent to next run a
schedule of the contributions listed on the wiki page. Something along
the lines of:

3 - 5 days per banner (Cycle)

It would give you a way to apportion your collective attention - IMO
each meets the threshold for usability, again given the calendar, for
use and focus on making tweaks to the next banner in the sequence (if
any).

Fourth Banner

Evaluate on the 28th (min. date - push out for longer cycles, March 9th)

or even

doing the above banner twice as it is the only non-thermometer.

Fifth Banner 2011-02-28 [2011-03-09]

Evaluate on the 03-03 ( or March 14th)

Pick one or two of the banners based on the metrics [accounting for
outside actions of course, blogs, news items, shows....], perhaps with
still further enhancement to finish out the campaign.

IMO it would better to just focus on the banner performance on the main
sites very closely, even if it means letting items for auxiliary use
languish a bit.

Anyway - just a suggestion as a way to proceed in such a limited time
period. Not to mention that I am assuming that this detail of tracking
is in place already, easy to do, and someone has the time to do it...a
bunch of assumptions, for certain. So, feel free to toss all that into
the round bin.

Best wishes,

Drew
