A few information, to make everyone aware of the situation:
1. Working Group
Myself, plus a group of Italian government bodies including Regione
Umbria, Provincia di Bolzano and Provincia di Milano (plus satellite
companies) each one handling a migration project to LibreOffice.
Regione Umbria will represent the core of the group, with Stefano
Paggetti (project leader of the migration project, involving 1.000 PCs
today, 6.000 in mid term, and 12.000 at the end), Andrea Castellani (a
long time free software advocate, providing technical support and part
time developer of the digital signature extension, already published),
Alfredo Parisi (young free software advocate, main developer of the
extension, now developing it for the second Italian signature standard
and providing support to users on mailing lists), Sonia Montegiove
(trainign leader, in charge of communications).
In addition: Domingo Sacristan, Paolo Dongilli, Markus Egger and Diego
Maniacco from Provincia di Bolzano, Andrea Veronesi from Bolzano Health
System, and Patrick Ohnewein from TIS South Tyrol (they have migrated a
mix of users from different organizations, not only to OOo/LibreOffice
but also to GNU Linux).
In addition: Marina Latini, Andrea Trentini, Alex Carraturo and others
from Milan (all involved in the open source lab of the university).
In addition, as auditors, a couple of large private companies starting
or keen to start a migration project to LibreOffice, to represent the
corporate end user.
2. Tentative Schedule
Produce a draft of the migration protocol and the training protocol by
mid July, for discussion by end of August and consolidation before the
conference in late September.
Define a methodology for the certification process, which must be able
to underline the diversity of our community, our free software ethos and
commitment, and our passion for improvement and quality.
Organize the first certification session at the conference, for the
pilot certification timeframe of 12 months. Target late spring 2014 for
end of pilot and switch to official certification, with a first session
in Europe, Brazil, US and Japan.
