Wie ist es damit? Habe ich noch nicht ausprobiert, steht aber auf meiner
ToDoList:

Das ist auch ein Teil des UCanAccess-Javatreibers. Da gehört eben
jackcess, hsqldb (aktuelle Fassung), commons-logging und commons-lang
dazu. Wie die im Detail miteinander funktionieren habe ich nicht weiter
nachverfolgt. Mich interessierte nur, wie ein Kontakt zu Access
möglichst einfach zu bewerkstelligen war, damit ich das weitergeben konnte.
