I am working on a new brochure for LibreOffice. Since the new web page

Since it shows "The Document Foundation" under the "LibreOffice logo",
it
has to pass the "branding" issues.
This brochure started out with text from an older brochure that was
shown
on the wiki page[s], but was updated some with the new design that is
reflected in the new front page of the web site. There may still be some
work to do, but I thought I would let everyone see what it looks like and
it can go from there.
In the paragraph that describes "Draw", there is a max. page size
listing. It originally listed "300cm by 300cm". I made a version that
shows that size in inches. Draw would not let me go above 118.11 inches,
so I just listed "118 by 118 inches".
Both versions of the brochure is in 8.5" by 11" letter size, but I could
make it in A4 size if you wish.

Please let me know what you think. The last brochure I was using was
made in the Spring/Summer or 2011. It was time for an update.

particularly would use the half circle to the cover and pages intern
would
use LibreOffice logo but as a monochromatic watermark, maybe light grey
or
green.

I decided to use that "half-circle" logo on top of all 6 panels for
continuity. To me it looks better that way over without it.
The watermark, would it be used on the top, like I am using now, or be
floating behind the text in the center of these pages with the text over
top of it?
I do not do much with the "watermark option" but I have been known to
take an image and "thin and lighten" it to the point where it is looking
like a watermark and then use that image as a background one. I tend to
make them so that they print out fine, but do not show up when scanned or
copied. It has been well over a year since I made on like that, but I
started making them before I knew about a "watermark option" the system[s]
I was using before LO.

What about using inkscape to play with colors and then add to the brochure?

The color and such came from two files. The "half-circle" and the "icon and LibreOffice/TDF text" files used on the 4.0 front page. I took the "generic" icon off the "LibreOffice" image and added it to the "half-circle". That is the new PNG image I am using for the brochure[s]. Since the new 4.0 Getting Started Guide uses that style on the front cover, I decided it would be a proper image style for the brochure[s].

I use GIMP and Inkscape for image creation.

Sometimes I need to use Paint Shop Pro 5, when I cannot figure out how to do things in those two, since I have been using it for 10+ years [I think] on my Windows systems. That purchase was worth the money.

I have not really worked with Draw for image creation, but others might be able to do thing with it that I have no idea how with Draw, but can with GIMP and Paint Shop Pro, or Inkscape and Corel Draw.

The original brochure seems to use "frames" or something instead of columns. I really have not worked with frames in LO, so I prefer columns. So I took the original text/images and copied it over to a 3 column page. That way, it should be easier to take a letter size page and convert it to a A4 size with just a little work on the placement/alignment of the text and images. I still have to figured out how to center an image in a column, since the "center icon" is for pages. Maybe it works for frames, but as I said I have not used frames in LO. Also I wanted the brochure easy to edit and modify for local users. If that user does not know how to modify the frame size, like me, then they cannot use it. I would rather make it easy to deal with and not be as "good" as it can be using "advanced" desktop publishing options, so others can take it and easily work with it with some simple text and image work that most users should know how to do.
