Re: [libreoffice-users] Re: New release of Grub2.00 for alpha testing

Hi :)
Don't worry.  It's not such a big jump this time!

The jump from Grub1 to Grub'2' in Ubuntu 10.04 caught a lot of people out.  I don't think people were ready for it and it wasn't great back then.  The massive advantage with Grub'2' is that it is modular so small chunks can be developed and tested without hurting the rest of it.  Also it is very easy to reinstall from LiveCd/Usb and there are cleverer way to do it too

Ok, so it was introduced in U 9.10 but it was optional and people avoided it, or just switched back to Grub1.  All much the same sequence as Unity which also seems to upset less people now.  I still miss messing around with menu.lst but who wouldn't?
Regards from
Tom :)

Thank you to Chimak from me also. It was with Ubuntu 10.04 or 10.10 on one machine that I left updates update the boot loader. That was a big mistake!!!!!!! It seems much easier to fix now than back then, and if I was retired and wanted to play with something I would, but I don't need to take the chance on causing myself time and pain if it didn't work. I do hope the developers do find some folks who can check it out!!!!!!
