Try AutoCorrect:
o Go to Tools | AutoCorrect Options... | Replace.
o For Replace:, enter (say) "#c" .
o For With:, enter "{code}" .
o Click New.
o Repeat for #n, #s, and #h.
o Click OK.
(At Tools | AutoCorrect Options... | Options, ensure "Use replacement 
table" is ticked.)

In your document, now just type "#c" etc. and watch the fun!
