I have a set of worksheets that reference cells between them. They are saved
as *.xls files since I have built them since the late '90's. The links
don't work through LibreOffice on Windows XP.

The link equation is written
                           ='file:///M:/cw_documents/TRACK.XLS'#$Blank.$C$16

when LibreOffice saves the sheet and I read it back (either Libre or
OpenOffice calc)
                           ='file:///M:/cw_documents/TRACK.XLS'#$".$C$16

Missing the sheet name (replaced with a quote mark) makes all links fail.
