[libreoffice-design] Some proposals for Libreoffice screenshot UI

Hello world, 

as you might've already noticed, we're working on a set of tools for creating 
Libreoffice screenshots for the purpose of help and documentation [1]. Apart 
from an automated/command-line part of the task (that will non-interactively 
open every dialog in Libreoffice and save its screenshot), we will be providing 
help text authors/technical writers with a way to create and annotate a 
screenshot of any dialog manually, from Libreoffice UI and/or help authoring 
extension.

Since there was some initial confusion in last Friday's design call as for who 
the target group of this feature is, let me make it clear once again: this is 
not going to be a tool for taking Libreoffice screenshots and uploading them to 
Facebook/Twitter/ask.libreoffice/bugzilla. Rather than that, it is going to be 
used by people who write help texts, user guides, or in general, the 
documentation of Libreoffice and want to embed screenshots into .xhp help files. 

So I came up with some mockups, but since I'm as far from someone who can come 
up with a nice, usable UI as I can be, I'd appreciate some feedback and/or 
improvement proposals. 

I'll be linking those mockups while outlining (not only) functional 
requirements of our work:

0) Any functionality related to screenshot feature should stay invisible to 
'normal' users. It should be activated only by switching on an experimental 
mode or a specific expert config toggle

1) It should be possible to take a screenshot of every dialog, modal or 
modeless. Since a modal dialog makes it impossible to activate any other 
control in the underlying Libreoffice window, the "trigger" to take a screenshot 
is likely to be incorporated directly in the dialog, like for example

2) After taking such a screenshot, it should be possible to annotate/label 
widget(s) in the dialog.  See http://picpaste.com/screenshot1-IhK3p0jP.png [3] 
the two buttons in mini-toolbar over the screenshot preview are meant to add 
and delete an annotation. 

3) In the end, the help text author should be able to save the screenshot and 
s/he should also be provided with a snippet of help text markup, that s/he can 
simply copy'n'paste into the help text and fill in the real data. See again in 
[3] how would such a piece of text look like. 

42) Someone in the design call mentioned MS Word built-in screenshot tool. I 
had a brief look at it and it seems to be able to take a screenshot AND embed 
it directly into the currently edited document. That looks like a feature for 
the help authoring extension, but until the previous 3 points are not done, it 
has a low priority.

So ye, that's it for now. I'll be grateful for any feedback I can get from 
this list.
