Hi Andrew,
I'm Alex, not Mirek :)
1) During the last IRC meeting we decided that I'd do the tentative design for both whiteboards, which combines the proposals and will later be used during the development. I think Mirek is working on the template picker.
2) Good
3)Currently 'Selection Mode' and 'Toggle Grid/List' are contained in the overflow menu
4)I think it would work both ways
