Hello! :)

I just was wondering if you as designer team could do a little change in the menu 'file'.
Let me explain :)

My father some days ago was using Microsoft Office under Microsoft Windows. He's 55 old and he doesn't know much about computers, and also he with a big effort can learn a new way to work. Last week I advice him to test Fedora which comes with LibreOffice. I was surprised! He started to work very fast almost with no effort. But when he begun to work with LibreOffice, he lost his patience.

The point is;
In the menu 'file' you have two commands:
Close, which is located in the middle of the menu,
and Exit, which is at the same bottom of the menu.

if click on 'Close' - the program closes the current window
If click on 'Exit' - the program closes all the windows relatives to LibreOffce.

Knowing the above information, if I'm running for example, some Calc, Impress and Write windows, and I click on 'Exit' then all the windows will be closed. Unfortunately my father always terminates all windows! After that he loses his patience :( He used to close the current program by clicking on 'Close' which is located at the same bottom of the 'file' menu.

Can you please, just put that button 'close' at the bottom of his menu? And 'Exit' before 'Close'? I know that this will represent a problem if million of users got the habit to find 'Close' in the middle of the menu :(

What about a plugin that could resolve my question? If exists, how its called?
Thanks a lot!

Thanks a lot Alex. Do we have his email address? It's a shame for him to
spend his efforts in a way no one can benefit from...

Best,
Charles.

Hi Charles,

As far as I remember, he posted to the design mailing list quite some
time ago asking whether we would want to use it. I and Astron (IIRC)
replied that he should rather ask on the dev mailing list, since I did
not know whether it was some sort of wrapper and because I don't know
how VCL works.

I doubt he's subscribed to the mailing list, at least we didn't her
from him since.

Kind Regards

Alex
